Who We Are

UMC Food Ministry is a faith-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and ministry of the Northern Kentucky District of the Kentucky Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church.

We’re governed by a board of directors, which includes representatives from The United Methodist Church and other important community partners.

Our work is funded primarily through the USDA Food and Nutrition Service via the Ohio and Kentucky Departments of Education.

Through our work, we’re taking food to the places where kids need it most.

We serve communities throughout Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati, and will partner with any nonprofit organization within the region to provide tasty, nutritious meals to children and youth.

What We Do

We serve as a catalyst between community organizations and social service agencies by providing access to free, nutritious meals and resources that help programs operate more efficiently and feed children.

The organizations we partner with are often located in communities with a significant population of children who receive free or reduced-price lunches in their schools.

During the school year:

  • We help facilitate At-Risk Afterschool Meals through USDA’s Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), which provides dinner and a snack to all children at our sites.

  • We offer meals every day of the week, including weekends and holidays, where there is a need.

  • We serve as a vendor for the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), providing meals to private schools that operate under the program but don’t have kitchen space.

During the summer months:

There are no restrictions to the activities or content of programming that partners may hold while serving food under this program.

All meals are distributed free of charge.

Every day, we strengthen community partners through our feeding programs.

Our Mission

The mission of UMC Food Ministry is to equip our partners so they can take care of the educational, emotional, physical, social and spiritual needs of the children they serve without the children being hungry. We partner with schools, community organizations, and social service agencies across Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky to make sure every child has access to nutritious meals.
