Making God’s Love Edible
A child’s chance for a brighter future begins with food.
Who We Are
UMC Food Ministry is a ministry of the Northern Kentucky District of the Kentucky Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church. Through this work, we’re taking food to the places where kids need it most.
We’re governed by a board of directors, which includes representatives from The United Methodist Church and other important community partners.
Our work is funded primarily through the USDA Food and Nutrition Service via the Ohio and Kentucky Departments of Education.
We operate across Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati, and will partner with any nonprofit organization within the region to provide tasty, nutritious meals to children and youth.
While we are a federally-funded, faith-based organization affiliated with The United Methodist Church, we serve all people and work with a variety of community partners.
There are no restrictions to the activities or content of programming that partners may hold while serving food under this program.
What We Do
We serve as a catalyst between community organizations and social service agencies by providing access to FREE, nutritious meals and resources that help programs operate more efficiently and feed kids.
The organizations we partner with are often located in communities where there is a significant population of children who receive free and reduced lunches in their schools.
During the school year, we participate in the At-Risk Afterschool program, which provides dinner and a snack to all children at our sites.
We offer meals every day of the week, including weekends and holidays, where there is a need.
We serve as a vendor for the National School Lunch Program, providing meals to private schools that operate under the program but don’t have kitchen space.
During the summer months, we provide a combination of any two meals per day.
All meals are distributed free of charge.
