Shared Values Create Partnerships and Expand UMCFood’s Reach
Based at the Borland Family Resource Center in Florence, Kentucky, Master Provisions is a faith-based organization that provides food, clothing and orphan care to people in need locally, regionally and in various countries around the world.
Master Provisions’ food outreach program serves people across the Tri-State area. To do this, the organization gathers surplus food from area wholesalers, safely storing that food and distributing it to area nonprofits, like UMCFood, that feed the hungry. Approximately 100 agencies obtain food from Master Provisions each year. Since the food program began, the organization has reclaimed and distributed over 12 million pounds of food.
As one of their most valued food partners, UMCFood staff and volunteers pick up food from Master Provisions, which is then prepared in UMCFood’s central kitchens. The kitchens receive a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, dairy products and some frozen entrees.
Master Provisions provides the vital resources to serve people in need, allowing organizations the ability to focus on their core missions. Because of this partnership, UMCFood can serve nutritious meals at its feeding sites using the fresh fruits and vegetables from Master Provisions – Making God’s Love Edible.
